Who cares about greens market anyway ? Get it to R8 to "stimulate" trading ? .... all i see is a "i want my cookie" thread and a hidden reason like "i want to make money selling greens" or "i want to make money selling R8 shields / get one R8 shield for pvp" .
No reason for that change , so /notsigned

Greens used to be valuable. Even when they didn't have the absolute best-stats available. Heck, I made most of my money on the green market, back in the day. It's got little to do with stats that they're cheap.

Fact is: there is just too many of them out there. Most of them have less then perfect stats, and even the ones that have good stats are easily farmable. When there's a supply of 3 years of farming around...
Combine that with the fact that greens have been made largely irrelevant when the inscription system got implemented and you have a good reason why they're worthless. GW is nearing it's retirement. It's only normal that most of the easily farmable stuff becomes cheap as dirt.

That having said, they're far from crap. I like having easy access, perfect weapons around. R8, R9. Who the jolly hell even cares?

Req8 greens would be terribly broken (expecially with shields), allowing a three-attributes split when spending attribute points (12+2-10-8).

It is and always has been a matter of prestige. You can find the same benefits in a gold if you modded it correctly, which means greens were never intended to provide some super l337 bonus over other weapons.

If you're farming for greens to sell at 3k each, I'd recommend you find something else to farm. Simple as that.

The whole point of a green is so its CHEAP.
They are not suppoe to sell for 30K they are supppose to be there for players wanting something, that is max have decent mods and is easily attainable.

Ill take a crappy green over the reg7 energy storage, hct diving favor 20%,hsr Spawning power any day.

The reason greens are worthless now is because NF introduced more customization for golds, and that every green worth mentioning has been overfarmed by permaform. Not to mention a lot of the greens have ugly skins.

Everyone is overlooking the obvious. Greens are still greens, they are dirt cheap not because they are req9, but because they are all so easy to farm and the market is flooded with them. Make greens req8 and after the initial boom after the update, they will be the same price they are now.

I really don't care if they are req8 or 9, so long as whatever req they are the PvP item creation can make items of the same requirement.

The only practical way to boost the value of greens is to remove inscriptions and the ability to choose which mod you salvage... the 'perfect' greens will once more fetch insane prices. We really don't want to go there again.

Greens have a 'niche' in the game, they are a source of perfect 20/20 caster sets, High energy sets etc for players who can't meet the price demands of perfect mods (like a Forget Me Not inscription), for others they are a cheap way to keep your host of heroes somewhat well equipped.

They don't need to be changed.

Edit: WTS Razorstone! 100k!!! haha, no.

i say none of this would be relevant if weapons armor and skills were banned in game.

Everything would have to be decided by naked mud wrestling to the death.

mm we could even have tag teams

i agree green items need something right now they are just fodder for heroes vender or new players. Although one of the intents of green items may have been to give new players max weapons without too much trouble collecting up the mods.

Greens are the perfect example of how much GW economy fails. But changing the existing greens into q8 would cause completely unnecessary mess. Nothing good can come out of it, remember greens are very common and easy to farm. Terrible idea and Wrong Way.

Designing entirely NEW greens, with unusual stats, including requirements lower than 9 could be a much better thing if done with great care. It should not be aimed to ruin values of certain rare golds but provide something new, also a strong protection against overfarm is a must - hard to access areas (as opposed to having them dropped from a boss just around the corner outside an outpost) and high randomization of boss spawns (like Sorrow's back in 2005) is the minimum.

I like the greens. There was a time when that was all I used. Of course, now I use whichever skin I like and modify the stats/inscription to my desires.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind green items being changed to req 8, but I don't see that really helping anything to be honest; and it would kind of mess up the already weird economy. Now you can sell a green Bow of the Kinslayer for 100k or so (unless that's changed), but 9 times out of 10 the person just resells it for more than they paid. No one uses it, it's a sell item.

So I'd personally rather see ANet working on bringing Guild Wars 2 out.

Personally i think there should be a 'sink' for green items, perhaps make them salvageable, but for about twice the amount a measure for measure inscription increases the salvage by. Removes greens from the economy and replaces with usefull materials

This.

Plus, there's another reason greens aren't usually that valuable: they rarely have the mods on them that people want. Changing their req will not change that. So, they'll either still be useless (if the customizable mods prove to be a more valuable trait) or completely take over the market (if lower req proves more valuable). Neither scenario is good.

Default the point of the OP is that MOST greens have less value than a random DYE!!!

I throw greens away almost everytime I get one (as I imagine that some of the posters to this thread do as well). This thread was started because I KNOW that I'm not the only player that has adopted this "practice". I tend to HM PUG alot & I've been on countless PUG runs where people get a green drop, and just leave it there cause it's NOT worth the inventory space...

Still the to the point: ANET has double green drop weekends to "incent" players to get greens. Ulitmately the "incentive" applies to those NEWER players that don't have oodles of greens already, or or to help those rare "green farmers" be more efficient. Either way, as ALL posters to this thread have noted, MOST greens have little economic value. So how does it hurt the economy by making them more appealing to PvP players? It actually "creates" a market for the greens. Anyone REALLY believe that a R8 green shield or focus is suddenly gonna sell for more than 2 ectos???? & if so, that market will saturate soon enough anyway...

I'd sign the suggestion to make them salvagable... for mats anyway... or salvage into a sweet point or booze point or party point (that's only 100G via trade atm anyway). But it would B more FUN for the game in general to see the req changed

I AGREE. it sounds ridiculous but there is already so many floating in hte game that if they are q7 they will not oust out all q9's q8's, etc.
